In the New #5

What are your views on the rights of dogs vs. humans? My views against dog vs. human is that its really an ethic issue. Its always are going to put like this because many people look at animals as nothing b3ecause that don't have the intelligence like us.Animals and humans should not get the equal punishments toward aggression. Animals are not aware of what their doing. They just doing things off of instinct or taught.Where as humans know exactly what their doing. Pittbulls are dangerous depending on how they were raised. I don't think they should be banned because their are loving animals and its not their fault how they are raised. The recent attacks don't change my view because animals can only do what they are taught or even see on a daily basis. For future attacks i think they sholud pay attention to the owner or even the environment.

In the News Response to Splenda

I'm not too much a fan of advertising splenda. It does get a lot of publicity but they are rarely any facts about it. how can something be good for us but 50% of the users doesn't know what it contains, where does it primarily comes from, and can it have any side effetcs. I feel that splenda is somewhat a good source but i rather not use it. the way they advertise it makes me feel that they are more concerned if we will buy it or if we will benefit from it

In The News Respose to Technology Dangers

Technology do have quite an amount of harms to it. The ipods for instance. These portable music things are affecting our ability to hear and focus. We have the earphones in our ears everyday and not at a normal volume. Some people don't look at it the way i do but its hurting us. By the time we are maybe around our 60s, we will be hard of hearing and probably go deaf. Technology has gave our econmy a good advance in numerous ways. I think people should take out more time to see if what their putting on the market will affect us.

In the News Response to Breast Cancer

Yes, I do believe that parents should test their children at an early age for breast or ovarian cancer. Just because you are young does not mean that you are not at risk. Cancer does not know age, ethnicity, or any other characteristic. If I'm a parent, i wpould always want to get my children tested for these cancers because the simple things that you eat can be a cause. If I have the gene for breast cancer, I should be more persistent to get my child the screening because there is a 50% chance for them. That would show o dignity or sense for me not to screen my child especially if i have the gene trait.

Myths of Creativity

In your own words describe the myths of creativity?Creativity comes from creative types.Creativity is your perspective, your experience, or your knowledge about something.Creativity can come from any of those factors or even more and put into a unique wat to create something.Creativity can come from anything that motivates or drives you to reach a certain goal.
How did Teresa Amabile , the Havard business School professor who studies creativity in the work place, design her research? What kind of information was she looking for? What seems especially surprising or interesting about her approach to research?Teresa Amabile and the Harvard Business School Proffessor designed the research by getting direct opinions from people who worked in different work place. The kinds of information Teresa was lookinf for were other aspects of creavitiy aside from intelligence. What seem surprising was the idea of the diary concept.Sompe people would think that it is corny. Also the question she asked to be answered.
Who is the audiencefor Bill Breen's article? How can you tell. I think the audience for Bill Breen's article is the corporate world, business, and managers.I can tell because most times they think that to come up with a great idea for the company its all where or how you got your intelligence. If your even smart. If you have any master degrees,ph.D, or what prestigious school you came from, as well you financial income. These types of things they judge people just to come up with a creative idea.

In The News Response To Family Influence on Politics

Personally i don't think that the candiates family should be involve. Its a very touchy subject and how a candiate handles their issues at home does not necessarily mean they will do the same for the country. There is a saying that what ever is at home stays at home. You can't judge a person authority just because he handles issues at home a little different than other average americans. Politics and home doesn't mix and if your trying to put it together can be bias.If politics and home should be a point in the election than in my opinion, why did Bush become the President if your looking family wise?

The two essays "A Different Kind of Hero" and "Two Strangers In a Coffee Shop"of how you don't have to do anything materialistic or physical to be a hero.Just overcoming or having the mental state that tomorrow will be a better day is unbeatable. That primarily is the purpose of both the author in these stories. In the essay "A Different Kind of Hero", Hurricane Katrina was passing through the little boy town and thankfully he was not there but in a differsnt state. While everything he has known from his hometown was swept away, he was grateful for simply being alive. He was a different kind of hero because he gave courage and laughter that you couldn't take away. In the essay "Two Strangers in a Coffee Shop", the polish woman was taken way from her home by the Nazis. She was striped away of her life. The polish woman particular hero was the Americans. Even though she lost basically everyone , she remarried and move to America. In America, she found her children she lost during the Holocaust. These essays are reflective and makes you understand the options you have today. I have always known that to laugh is free and to smile is priceless. Everything they knew was tooken away but in the end they had a bit of a better tomorrow.

national news, political news

Its not really necessary for a fence to be put up around the southwestern border. so what the mexicans or other immigrants are getting into america that way, its not like their not bringing the ecnonmy more money. What about the american citizens that get to visit any country they please, just because they have an american passport. that should not give them the right to go. What if Asia just up right and said they didn't want anymore amercian tourtist, it would be an issue. We have so much issues dealing with gas, jobs, healthcare, and the war. its a shame that bush is concerned with putting up a $400 million fence then helping us citizens. i hope he don't even get the money. if he is trying to keep the mexicans away the he mine as well just keep all the other immigrants away. lets see how economy will flow then.

Questions for Active Reading pg73

What experience did smiley have that changed her beliefs about chores? At what point in her essay does she describe this experience? What would the impact of that experience be on you. as a reader, if she had described it some place else in the essay? The experience Smiley had that changed her beliefs about chores was when she was doing horsework.Smiley starts to describe her experience of horsework towards the end, you can also say that this was the turn point. The impact of Smiley experience would not have been very attentive or informative if she had said it earlier in the essay. If it was placed somewhere else, it would be backwards. The essay would not be interesting.

2.What kinds of reasons and evidence does smiley offer to support her argument?Do you think these reasons and evidence to be authoritative? What does her choice of reason and evidence reveal about smiley's intended audience? The kinds of reasons and evidence Smiley Shows to support her argument are if you are forced to do chores, then you won't do it good, and the comparison between her and her husband.I don't consider these reasons to be authoritative because chores can have so many different outcomes. Smiley intended audience would be the people that doesn't do anything and everything is done for them. Also it could be for parents who wants their children to do chores.

3. How does smiley use rhetorical questions to appeal to her readers?Smiley use rhetorical questions to catch her audience attention and make them side with her.My reactions to these question are that chores all in all makes you a better person and to know that nothing is free.Chores are good to start off young with and personally Smileyreasons in a way is lazy.

journal entry #1

When I was in my middle school years, I was stress and had a bad case of depression. You can say I was in need of immediate attention as well. Symptoms for me was not eating, always sad, would not speak to anyone, school grades were decreasing , and always had the idea that running away was good. The torture I did to myself was never thought harmful. My household was the result of this as well of not having my biological father in my life. My mom was raised in a strict household which she brought out on me. She could not understand that it was a different generation and a different country. No one could not speak or explain to her in the family that consequences did not always result to one type of punishment. With that in my middle school years, I was kept away from school activities, I could not use the telephone, I was not allowed friends over, I could not go out, wasn’t allowed to wear pants, and other cultural ways. So without a surprise I became depressed .I didn’t eat because I didn’t think I fit in with the other kids. My sense of being outspoken was lost because I was put down at home. So I didn’t speak to anyone which resulted in holding all my feelings. See to anyone this would only be temporary but this started ever since I was six years old but became crucial during my middle school years. Well today I do still have these stress issues but one thing did change; my mother. To not be concerned my mother is Haitian American. She was raise in Haiti and their ways are totally different from American ways. So she only knew what she was taught. Even though she had been living here ever since she was sixteen, she thought that the American system was corrupted. She also stated that this was the main reason why we have so much delinquents in the juvenile facilities. All in all she did change which was mainly because I rebelled in my eleventh grade year. She finally got the picture that as time goes on some things you must leave behind and use a new method. It wasn’t really a choice to counter my story in this way of writing. Honestly I would have rather to have a discussion about it because I like to see my audience to sense or relate to my past experience but I consider this a technical genre. Why would you say that? Well this journal entry you can call it, targets the purpose that I am trying to communicate which is some of my youth ways changing in result to my mom changing. You can say most people who would relate to my account would be teenagers my age. Whether some young adults want to know it or not, your not the only one in a dreadful situation. Some people just suffer more than others and people who are not, try to take advantage of that factor. My sense of direction was contributed by starting with the problem and the solution if there was any. I also use the technique of cause and effect.

in the news 1

I think the whole concept of technology progressing is cool but where will it end though. That's the point. It won't end! Technology now days are a great option for everyone but even the greatest scientist can't create something that does not have a side effect. Have it ever occurred to someone that if there is so much technology to use, it can be a lee way for someone to actually blow up our economy. There are more people liable to crack open top secret resources online then a person just to walk up the white house and rob it. Just think about it!
